Nice is famous for its vast pebble beaches and year-round sunshine. You're spoilt for choice when it comes to swimming with 15 private beaches and over 20 public ones.
Most of the beaches are on the famous Promenade des Anglais, a 2 minute walk from Hôtel Locarno. There are two disabled-friendly beaches: Plage du Centenaire and Plage de Carras. Nice has also set up smoke-free beaches: Centenaire, Voilier, Bains Militaires, Lenval and Sainte Hélène.
You can hire mats, parasols, cabins and towels for 15-35€ for the day at private beaches (half-day hire available). Most private beaches provide on-site catering, ideal for lunch by the sea and spending the afternoon topping up your tan.
